Nick Siefers Joins 900 Global
After a fierce bidding war for the services of Nick Siefers, he has agreed to come to work at 900 Global as their bowling ball designer. Nick was a former ball designer for a major ball company before taking a senior research engineering job with USBC approximately 1 year ago. While at the USBC, he was in charge of most of the Ball Motion Studies being conducted over the past year.
“Nick is the premier young ball designer in the industry,” said Danny Speranza, the Head of Operations for 900 Global. “I worked very closely with him when we both worked for a different ball company and so I know his abilities. Many companies wanted Nick’s services, and I am really glad that he chose us over everybody else. His employment at 900 Global guarantees our future as the leader in high tech core designs and other high tech innovations for the bowling industry.”
Nick was always the brains behind the scene in core designs. He would take a core shape drawn on a napkin by anybody and turn it into the true core design. The shape is the easy part. The real design work starts with the engineering after the shape is thought up.
Turning a shape into an actual core requires three things:
• Dimensions for each shape in the core
- • Densities for each component to create the desired Rg and differential Rg
- • Location of each part to create the overall correct top weight and pin out requirements
The person who can create the final drawing with all these questions answered is the true core designer. This requires special CAD (computer aided design) software knowledge. Nick is an expert in this area.
Nick graduated from
Purdue
University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering. He will be designing the cores for the future and doing technical seminars for 900 Global. He will also work on finalizing the remote control ball for the bowling industry. He is the future for 900 Global and it all starts now.
